Postpartum Doula Care

A postpartum doula is there for a family during the first days and weeks with a new baby. At Knoxville Birth & Baby, postpartum care is customized to meet your needs. Services include newborn care and information, knowledge of comfort and healing measures, light housework, food preparation, sibling care, skilled breastfeeding or bottle feeding assistance, and emotional support to ease the transition into parenthood or a new chapter of your family’s life. 

What will my postpartum doula do? 

  • Share measures to promote postpartum comfort and healing 

  • Serve as an expert source of newborn care information

  • Help with establishing breastfeeding or bottlefeeding and healthy sleep habits

  • Be an emotional support and a listening ear

  • Provide knowledge and access to community resources 

  • Help with household management- light cleaning, meal preparation, laundry, nursery organization

  • Care for your baby or older children to allow you time for yourself or partner 

Women who are cared for in this way during the 'fourth trimester' report less postpartum depression and may have an easier experience learning to care for and bonding with their baby.

  • Two days (8 hours) each week

 

A wonderful option for all new families. Let an experienced and sympathetic doula be available for assistance with baby care and postpartum comfort.

  • Two visits of two hours

  • Ten four hour visits

  • Two eight hour overnight visits

  • A free half hour consultation by phone or Zoom

  • An additional in-home prenatal visit

  • The services of a Certified Lactation Counselor

Details

A booking fee of $100 + a deposit of 50% of the package price is due at the time of signing the service agreement and will reserve your time on the doula's calendar.

The balance payment is due by 39 weeks of pregnancy

​

 WIC recipients receive an additional discount.

Short term care is offered at $35 an hour for as long as you need help.
